About

Dr. Annette Dunn, EdD, MS, RN, is the founder of Nurse Netty™, a modern, nurse-led educational brand transforming how families talk about puberty, sexual health, body literacy, and healthy relationships. Over the past decade, she has taught thousands of families nationwide. She began her career as a California Credentialed School Nurse, where she discovered that preteens and teens weren’t avoiding tough conversations, they were wanting to have them with their parents. Recognizing that the true barrier was not willingness but a communication gap, she now guides parents with the knowledge and confidence to support their children through adolescence with clarity and connection.

Our Mission

Our mission is to begin family conversations about sensitive topics and create a connection between parents and their children. These conversations are facilitated in classes or coaching in a private setting that creates a safe, calm, and fun environment. The classes break down communication barriers that allow sharing and active listening. Our goal is for kids to seek guidance from their parents as they navigate through adolescence.

Dr. Annette Dunn began her career as a California Credentialed School Nurse, where she quickly discovered something powerful: preteens and teens weren’t avoiding tough conversations, they were wanting to have them with their parents.

Working closely with adolescents and developing a strong focus in adolescent medicine, she saw firsthand that students made healthier, more confident decisions when their parents were actively involved in guiding them. What surprised her most was this: kids wanted to talk to their parents, and parents desperately wanted to guide their kids. The problem wasn’t willingness, it was a communication gap.

She founded Sensitive Solutions in 2014 determined to bridge the gap. Sensitive Solutions became the foundation that would later grow into the Nurse Netty Brand. From the very beginning, she did something different. She didn’t separate parents from their children during education sessions. She invited parents to sit right beside them. Her sessions provided an environment where families learned, asked questions, and built trust together.

Dr. Annette Dunn earned her Master of Science in Health Education from Purdue in 2021 and completed her Doctorate of Education in Health Professions at A.T. Still University in 2025. Her academic training strengthened her health education talents and solidified her desire to reach a million families through Nurse Netty.

Having raised five children, she has personally navigated every stage of adolescence including the awkward questions, the emotional highs and lows, and the independence shifts. She understands that these years are not just about physical changes, but about connection, identity, and trust at home.

Today, Nurse Netty feels deeply grateful to have found her life’s purpose in helping families replace silence with conversation and uncertainty with confidence. She plans to teach families around the world and build Nurse Netty globally. Her intention is that every parent has the tools and knowledge to talk to their kids about any subject and for every child to feel safe to talk to their parents about anything.

Outside of her work, she loves spending time with her family, traveling, cooking, going to the beach, skiing, exercising, yoga, meditation, laughing, and, most importantly, continuing the very conversations she teaches other families to have with her own family.

Speaking

Nurse Netty is available for on-site speaking engagements, bringing her trusted, down-to-earth approach directly to your home, school, or community event. She works with parents, kids, and teens to break down awkward or difficult topics and turn them into honest, productive conversations. Through engaging, age-appropriate talks and interactive discussion, Nurse Netty helps families build communication skills, strengthen trust, and give kids the confidence to speak up and ask questions. Whether it’s a private gathering or a larger group event, her in-person sessions are designed to support real conversations that continue long after the event ends.
